Paying Court Ordered Fines
Payments may be made online [1], by phone, by mail or in person. Fines, fees, or court costs are due by the date set by the court (or the clerk's office).
The court accepts
- credit or debit cards (Visa, MasterCard),
- Discover cards for payments in person at the counter only.
- personal checks,
- money orders,
- cashiers checks, and
- cash.
Cash is accepted only if in person.
Community Work Service
In lieu of cash payments, you may do community service in lieu of paying a criminal fine [2]; your fine is paid off at the rate of $10 per hour of community service.
Lookup Fines, Pay On-line
Use our payment lookup service [1] to make a payment. This system will accept payments from Visa or MasterCard (debit or credit). There is a $6.25 fee for making payments online.
Phone Payments
If you were sentenced to a fine and ordered to make monthly payments when you went to court, then you may be able to pay your fine over the phone.
To pay with our Automated Telephone payment system, call (866) 822-5176. This system will accept payments from Visa or MasterCard (debit or credit.) Please note there is a $6.25 fee for making payments over the phone.
You will need your court docket number to pay using this option which is located at the top right-hand corner of your minute order or notice.

Follow these directions to navigate our Automated Phone payment system:
- Call 1-866-822-5176
- Press 2 for cases that begin with F or M
- Press 1 to make a payment.
- If your case begins with M, press 1
- If your case begins with F, press 2
- Enter the numeric portion of your case number (see underlined numbers in the example above)
- Press #
- Follow the rest of the prompts to enter your payment information.
If you have any problems with navigating the phone system or other questions regarding your monthly fine, please call 805-781-4816 and choose option 6 (Fiscal Services).
Mail Payments
DO NOT MAIL CASH. Checks and money orders should be made payable to “SLO Superior Court”. To ensure your payment is credited to the correct case, please include the case or citation number. All checks must include the name, address and phone number of the person writing the check.

Payments can be mailed to the location [4] where your case was last heard, or directly to the Fiscal Services Department.

In-Person Payments
Payments can be made in person at any of our branch locations [4] during business hours [5].
Additionally, traffic tickets and monthly fine payments can now be paid at Wal-Mart and certain other local retailers through the CheckFree Service. Below is a list of all local retailers that offer the CheckFree Service.
Payment information:
- Take your courtesy bail notice or A/R monthly statement with you to make your payment
- Fee is $0.88 - $2.50, depending upon the retailer.
- Payments must be made in CASH
- Payment information will be transmitted to the court within 1-2 business days..
- We are listed as a vendor in the Wal-Mart system under the name of SLO SUPERIOR COURT
