The Superior Court of California, County of San Luis Obispo consists of twelve judges and three commissioners. The judiciary, under a single presiding judge, hears all cases filed with the court. The Court serves the citizenry of San Luis Obispo County at three locations; San Luis Obispo, Grover Beach and Paso Robles.
San Luis Obispo is located eight miles from the Pacific ocean in a valley set between the peaks of the Santa Lucia Mountains. The community of San Luis Obispo retains its historic charm with the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, founded in 1772. San Luis Obispo is also home to the excellent Cuesta Community College and the prestigious California State Polytechnic University. Moderate temperatures and ocean breezes throughout the year provide a pleasant climate.
Beach front communities of Morro Bay, Shell Beach and Pismo Beach are all within 15 miles of "SLO." The warm climate of North San Luis Obispo County provides excellent conditions for the growing wine industry that flourishes on the Central Coast.
Metropolitan areas of Los Angeles and San Francisco are accessible within a few hours drive either north or south.
